The Bauerle Street Parking Garage and Welcome Center establishes itself as the gateway building to the north side of the UTSA Campus. As the first building to be constructed under the new Campus Master Plan, the project addresses current needs and also is planned to integrate with the Master Plan implementation. The project incorporates urban design gestures by adapting its faces to address the context of each side of the project. On the east side the ground level is occupied by offices and a new Visitor Welcome center, as well as parking division offices and a retail store. A coffee kiosk is located on the second level of the project, where an elevated bridge connects directly onto the Main Building arcade. On the west side of the building a continuous vegetative trellis faces the campus preserve and blends the building with this undeveloped edge of the campus.
