Curved roof forms and metal materials reflect the streamlined mechanization of the fire engines housed within building. The stepped roofs reflect the functional division within while allowing light through clerestories into these interior spaces.  A combination of masonry units, glazed tile and composite metal panels cover the building and a metal canopy and steel frame structure helps mark the public entry.   An additional canopy is used to help shade the sun and glare on the west side of the building and to create shaded exterior spaces
