Guadalupe Neighborhood

By combining traditional urban design values with principles of New Urbanism, we develop neighborhood projects with the goal of creating a more livable and vibrant community.

In design of the housing types, we seek out an inherent sense of belonging, an easy relationship between cars, bikes, streets, pedestrians, and porch-sitters. Comfortable scales and familiar, accessible architecture make it possible to imagine your family in the homes on the block.

Whether planning a single-family residential development, a multi-family housing complex, or a mixed-use commercial center, we give priority to the design of the public space as a way to preserve and enhance important historic and cultural characteristics.

In residential design, we can build on the existing context and fabric of a neighborhood, creating a sense of place using scale, landscape, color and materials. Incorporating elements such as rows of trees, sidewalks, fences, and porches binds the whole fabric together. When successful, this approach curbs the impact of the automobile, and enhances the area's appeal to those who appreciate a time when city blocks were more amenable to pedestrian traffic.
