Stone Oak Plaza

Our design for Stone Oak Plaza appeals to both motorists traveling on Loop 1604 and to pedestrians shopping from store to store. Three crown-topped towers identify the project and provide high-visibility signage for high-speed motorists. Cut indigenous stone, landscaping, and heavy timber canopies are detailed to match the towers and provide a pleasant pedestrian environment while maximizing individual storefront exposure and tenant identity signage. Trellises and awnings provide shade from the South Texas sun. The center offers 55,000 square feet of mixed-use space that includes a branch bank and upper level office/retail space. The one-story Phase II addition completed in 2003 increased the ground level restaurant/retail space by 19,000 square feet.

Signage and design options provide plenty of opportunity for retail and office tenants to express the character of their businesses. Retail tenants are allowed to use any of four pre-selected colors, and are provided with a large sign band area that is marked on the building’s façade allowing for more creativity and individuality.

Office tenants’ signs are incorporated into the building cornice and are expressed as part of the overall building design. One long canopy covers all of the office tenants so that they are a distinguishable part of the overall design. The free-standing bank is designed using the same vocabulary as the office/retail tenants. Parking is carefully integrated with existing oak trees and landscaping buffers the presence of the freeway.
