December 2007 - The Shops at La Cantera was the only U.S. venue to earn top honor in its category: "Innovative Design and Development of a New Project (over 500,000 sf of retail space)", in the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) 2007 International Design & Development competition which recognizes projects that set the standards for retail development around the world.
SoFlo Architect's Offices (Alamo Architects and OCO Architects) was awarded "Best of 2007" for renovation, design by Texas Construction magazine. The statewide competition annually recognizes construction and design excellence from across Texas.

The San Antonio Business Journal awarded the two independent firms, Alamo Architects and OCO Architects, who co-own the site of their new offices and developed the spaces in tandem, the 2007 Best in Commercial Real Estate Award for Interior Design. The annual Best in Commercial Real Estate special publication recognizes top deals, designs and construction projects in San Antonio. Retail Traffic Magazine selected The Shops at La Cantera as the winner of the magazine's 2006 Superior Achievement in Design & Imaging (SADI) Award in the category of "Best New Open-Air Center." The project was also awarded the "Grand SADI" for "Best Overall Entry" in the 2006 competition. The annual Retail Traffic SADI Awards program recognizes outstanding achievement in retail design. The honor is bestowed to those who have successfully balanced form and function to create retail environments that fulfill the needs of the consumer while crafting unique and memorable places.
BusinessWeek Magazine and Architectural Record awarded Alamo Architects its 2004 BusinessWeek/Architectural Record Award (BW/AR Awards) for the design of the Humane Society/SPCA of San Antonio and Bexar County.
Among 10 winners in this international competition, the award was granted
for good design that achieves business objectives.
Projects were evaluated by a jury consisting of prominent architects, design
professionals, and business leaders. They sought projects where there
was extraordinary collaboration between architect and client, and in which
the quality of the architectural design solution contributed significantly
to the organization's success.

Alamo Architects received a Criteria Award from the Texas Association of School Boards/Texas Association of School Administrators 2004 Exhibit of School Architecture for their work on Wheatley Middle School in the San Antonio Independent School District.
The new middle school, completed in 2002, was designed to be a completely new state-of-the-art facility for 800 students while maintaining its cultural significance in the community. The award was made based on the following criteria: Design, Innovation, and Process of Planning.
